Tues 24 & Thurs 26 Nov, 10.30am-12pm GMT

Great management isn't something you're born knowing how to do - it's a skill, and like any skill, it can be learned, practised and refined. Along with the added responsibility of managing people, comes the need to invest your time, thought and preparation to build trust and empathy in your team.

Working in a creative and fast-paced environment, you are often still doing your own role alongside this new one, so having a simple, practical framework to lean on makes all the difference. Led by Fiona Craig, Founder at GoodThinking, this two-part course gives you a flexible, hands-on approach that you can put to use immediately. You'll build genuine confidence in the everyday moments that define great management - setting expectations, running 121s, and giving feedback - and gain the tools to handle even the hardest conversations with clarity and ease. Whether you're refining an established management style or building new habits as your role evolves, this workshop offers tried and tested techniques to sharpen your impact as a manager.

We will cover

  • The role of the manager

Understanding responsibilities, expectations and key skills.

  • Management processes

121s, continuous performance management and building accountability.

  • Setting expectations

Creating clear roles and responsibilities and how to give motivational feedback.

  • Management skills

Active listening, powerful questioning and handling difficult conversations.

  • Attitudes and behaviour

    Coaching and handling difficult conversations.

You will gain

  • Key insights into the role of the manager and how to bring the role to life.

  • A simple, adaptable structure for managing performance you can use straight away.

  • Techniques to handle difficult conversations and conflict with confidence.

  • The confidence, knowledge and skills to deliver high quality, constructive feedback.
